Hi,

Just notice the witcher 3 game of the year has been announced. Would the retail version be drm free?

Cheers.

most likely. Witcher 3 is available on GOG DRM-free. though retail boxes may be a bit different as the files are on the discs

The retail GOTY version will come with a GoG key, just like the regular one did.

Steam also has DRM-free games, and it's up to the publisher whether they choose to implement DRM through Steam or not. For games that don't use CEG, or a publisher's own choice of DRM, they can be played without Steam running or being logged in to Steam, and they can be archived, transferred to different PCs, and run from wherever.

I don't know if CD Projekt Red uses DRM for Witcher 3 on Steam or not, though.
