What's up guys. My name is Zack and I have a question. My current pc is a q9550, 8gb of ram and a gtx 760. I am clocked to 3.7 and my mobo is a asus p5e. What I want to know is which of my parts would give me the highest gain in framerate? The cpu or the gpu. Here's some of my game play. https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCQpmH8-i-j6nshxZB8kIlNQ I play games like cities skyline, mostly gta 5 and black ops 3 and the frame rate is fine but it's the little drops that get me. I don't have a huge buget for a complete over haul and I know a new cpu also comes with getting a new mobo and RAM. But with the cpu mobo combo ebay have, it's either 200 to 250 usd or get a better gpu like a gtx 780. Your help is need and thanx in advance.

you should be fine with that CPU, but your CPU is the cause for low minimum frame rates

i'd say upgrade that.

Given the games you play which are cpu intensive and the cpu you have is quite outdated and your gpu is okay, I'd recommend a cpu upgrade

Maybe disclose your budget so we could help you pick a good cpu mobo and ram combo?

4690K is the unlocked one but that is a LOT more expensive. You also need a Z97 board

If you really need to have the ability to OC you have a couple of options:

1. Pentium Anniversary edition + some motherboard

2. Some AMD FX CPU and a 970 motherboard

3. i5 4690K and a Z97 motherboard

(of course there are more, but this is what I want to talk about now.

I would do 1 because the Pentium is dual core, which is not optimal now. I also wouldn't really recommend 2, because many games still rely on better single core performance, something AMD is not as good as Intel in and 3 seems to be just out of your price range.

i5 4460 and H97 would give you great performance, just no overclocking.

The Pentium would be somewhat weaker than his current setup though. I've kinda done the math a few months ago :D

Yeah, especially in Cities Skyline and GTA V probably.

A friend had an option between Q8400 and G3258. We went with the C2Q. Witcher 3 runs buttery smooth with a 360 at 1280x1024. 60fps on low-medium
