Some days, you gotta build what they want, not what they need

So my uncle has his own business for about 20 years.  His old desktop is crapping out.  It's actually a Phenom II x6 8GB ram and a 500GB HDD.  Now we can ALL agree he doesn't need a ton of power.  But he also is the kind that fills the PC with junk too.  He also is the kind of person who wants top of the line.  His old PC was a $1,500 HP Pavillion.  So he contacted me and while I was going with an I3 and such he cut me off and said money wasn't a question, get him the best I could.  So this was the result:

Intel Core I7-6700

2x8GB DDR4 2400MHz

EVGA 650BQ

Gigabyte GA-150M-DS3H

Fractal Design Core 1000

ADATA Premiere SP550 480GB SSD

LG Blu-ray Burner

Total: $705+40 for Windows 10

Can't really complain as I tried to go for a smaller size so it would fit, good quality and saved him easily $750.  Yes I could have saved him more, but as soon as I said I3 he said He'll go buy an I7 from Best Buy.  But he's excited for the computer and I think we did a good job overall.  I am not charging for building because he's moving me and my fiancee into our new house (He's a moving company).

We do not have info on the EVGA BQ PSUs, I would not buy one until we know how it performs.

Will your uncle really need a 480GB SSD? You could sneak in a 240GB :)

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Well he had about 180GB used up prior so 480 should be good.

How about a 4K monitor for him? He'll appreciate the real estate.

He seems happy with his current monitor.  I'll mention an ultra wide to him.

Yup, I think he'll like it if he wants the absolute best office task performance.

Maybe look somewhere and stick in a cheap 750Ti. Even though he may be just doing office work, it may speed up his workflow a bit.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

What's going to be his backup plan/strategy?  Where's the hardware for that in this build?  You haven't stated what exactly he intends to do with this machine, but if he's running invoicing, payroll/timekeeping or some accounting package or anything like that, the tendency is to under-estimate the sort of effort and disruption it involves, usually at the worst time possible, when something goes wrong.

So what exactly is your uncle going to do with that build?

Browsing, MS office and other minor stuff?

Eventually he will be moving his home office to his warehouse. He wants me to then build a server to connect everything. His current backup system runs to a cloud and I plan to keep that going for now. He does have a laptop that also has access to his cloud backup.

He mainly does what the OP has asked. Office, time keeping, accounting software and browsing. He is a power user though and likes to have tons of stuff running at once.
