It's in a MSI GT72s. Where would you get one of these brackets?

brackets

I mean the bracket/card/hub in which the M2 card is slotted on to. The M2 is slotted onto a another card. MSI's implementation allows for 4 M2 ssds to be attached to a bracket/card/hub and then have that thing connect to the laptop. Notice how the M2 card isn't connected directly to the laptop and rather to another green pcb? The green PCB is connected to the laptop's mb.

I think that I might have one of those, just laying around :D I got it from MSI because I fixed a GT72s, but I am not sure if I ended up using it. Mention me in a hour or so, so I remember this thread and I will look in my boxes of parts

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.

sadly I don't have it, BUT I know that it is using a m.2 connector and some sort of other connector and it is not all laptops that would have the room for one

Nah I wasn't gonna fit 4 m2s in a laptop m8. I was gonna get an external enclosure and raid 1 on the external enclosure for the 4 m2s for backup purposes.

my guess is that the extra weird connector is for power

But wtf is it connected to? M2? NVME? Sata? Like it looks alot like M.2 2280 but how would MSI ensure the speeds of the 4 M2 drives if you hit them all at once.

If I still had my notes I could tell you, but I am pretty sure that it is NVMe, mainly because it has a bandwith that is big enough for 4x normal m.2 ssds, but it is not fast m.2 ssds they put in it. I think they did this to save space and money and so you could get more fast storage

Hmmmm, NVME doesn't work on external so I'll be regulated with USB-C speeds at best. Interesting. Ima contact MSI for one of these brackets LOL.

then you could also get them to send you the specs, so you could see what that other connector does.

Now I really wish that I still had my pile of notes, my mom thought that they were trash so one day I came home from school and they were gone.... I could have told you everything about that adaptor if I had them..

Edit: This ebay listing is for an MS-17812 Board, the one you pictured is an MS-17822 board (I think, the font is hard to see)

OH interesting. The only difference is the one I listed is a 72 skylake version and your's is the haswell. Dimensions may not be the same but functionality should be.
