Well as long as the VPN server is on the same network as the Plex and Moonlight server, yes. The vpn sends all types of traffic over the connection.

Hi,

 

I've just got into streaming around the home with plex and moonlight app. But I've been thinking about streaming away from home at hospital appointments but I just want to make sure my computer/server is secure when using public wifi services.

 

Any suggestions on virtual private networks/vpn for running these streaming app services would be great.

Your titale says you want to make a secure VPN server. OpenVPN is a great option for people who want secure access to their resources.

Thanks for helping me understand that. So I'm looking at setting up a Open VPN. I'll check out your guide.

I'll keep you posted when I get my VPN up an running.
