Do motherboards have wifi included or do you need to buy a wifi extender thing for the PC ? I would get ethernet , but it's not physically possible in my position.

Some of them do, some of them don't, what motherboard do you have(or are looking at)?

Some do, but mainly only high end ones. You can pick up some TP Link WiFi cards for cheap though.

I got a msi z170-a pro

They make pcie wifi cards usually you can find some for about $15USD.

but you may need to buy it separately

Your motherboard does not include WiFi, you will either need a USB WiFi dongle or a PCI-e card. TP Link has good products.
