SSD Cloning

tlmills82

I'm not sure if it's best to ask this here or in the Software forums, I apologize if it's wrong.

A friend of mine recently purchased a new SSD for his PC, he wants to put the SSD currently in his rig into his son's new PC.

What software does a good job of cloning everything including the OS?  He'd like to be able to clone it and not have to reinstall windows and everything else.

Well I don't know about that but I do know that if he buys another SSD and puts them both in RAID 1 then it will clone everything on the other one.

You shouldn't clone a HDD to an SSD.

You're going to cause more problems than the time you save, and end up having to clean install anyway to fix things.

What about SSD to SSD?

Still a bad idea because most of the time it messes up windows.

If it was just data files it would be fine, but OS and programs often have problems when cloned.

Especially if windows hasn't been clean installed in a long time.
