Liquid Cooling Terrors

I really want to put a AIO liguid cooler into the build I'm doing for college but I am terrified that it will possibly leak everywhere and I am spending a lot on this and don't want to ruin it.  Also, I need my computer for school because I am studying game design and 3D modelling so I REALLY can't have it go bad on me. How likely is it for AIO coolers to leak or break?  Some reviews on Amazon really put me off getting one cause it shows the worst of them but I know how awesome they can be.

The likely hood of AIO units leaking is pretty low usually if something is wrong with them they show up pretty quick out of the box, if you want to guarantee of that never happening large air coolers like the NH-D15 or Dark Rock 3 are comparable to many dual 120mm AIO solutions.

h100i's dont leak, I mean some have.. but if you install it correctly theres like a 99% chance they wont leak. If they did you'd be seeing a TON of hate towards them.

3 years ago, risky. Nowadays, it's pretty safe. Kinda like going on a plane. Eventually one or two will crash but its probably not the one you're on. That's the risk I would say you're taking. My H115i seems really solid but who can predict a plane crash right?

Blue screens eh? Did you try setting it to Wumbo?

Well I want to use a AIO cpu cooler so the exhaust fan can take control of the hot air from my GTX 1070 and not have to deal with my CPUs hot air as well.

Honestly, unless you really yank on an AIO tubing (which is probably how 90% of those reviews fail), there is no real chance of causing a leak.

 

I am actually way more anal about a huge metal heatsink failing personally (even though I understand there really isnt anyway to do so.

Hmm...nice analogy.  I've flown at least once every year of my life and never crashed so I guess getting an AIO cooler is gonna be fine.

That's true.  Do you know how reliable/durable AIOs are?  Like do they last 2 or 3 years because that would be fantastic.

NZXT has a warranty on theirs for 5 years, and thus being no more or less reliable than other Asetek built units of the same generation (think H100i GTX etc), that seems to be a fairly good benchmark.

 

Mobos in my experience are almost always the first parts to fail (although graphic cards obsolete faster).

They should last at least the manufacture's warranty period where most nowadays are 5-6 years which is pretty good.

Your components it destroys is also covered by Corsair.

Yeah it is under their warranty. When a product has a warranty like this that could cost a company a lot of money you know they have $3,000 worth of faith that their product won't fail. I personally love AIOs over air coolers as in the winter I rig up a fan and us the air from outside which is well below freezing to get some serious OCes on my hardware while warming the room. I just have to make sure the PC is always on or the windows is closed when it is off as the water would freeze.

Yeah it is under their warranty. When a product has a warranty like this that could cost a company a lot of money you know they have $3,000 worth of faith that their product won't fail. I personally love AIOs over air coolers as in the winter I rig up a fan and us the air from outside which is well below freezing to get some serious OCes on my hardware while warming the room. I just have to make sure the PC is always on or the windows is closed when it is off as the water would freeze.

That is fantastic.  Makes me feel a lot more comfortable getting an AIO cooler because I know now I won't be hung out to dry if it breaks and destroys my hard earned PC.
