So the performance difference would be worth the 25 dollars even though i would oc it? (Saw some benchmarks where they were reaaaally close together after the 470 got ocd (something like 3-7 fps))

You can always OC the 480 as well. I'd get the 480 for the extra compute cores as DX12 makes very good use of them

So I currently run a gtx 960 and a 6700k (bullshit combination i know, but i was not experienced at the time). And The new AMD Lineup seems really appealing to me. I don't live in the US so the Pricing is a bit crazy. So right now i have 6 options.

1. stay with the 960 if you think the performance gain will be too little and not worth the cost.

2. Buy a 4gb version of the rx 470 (strix for 225 bucks but maybe more expensive when i can actually buy it. and oc it)

3. Buy a 8gb version of the rx 470 (sapphire for 270 bucks and oc it)

4. Buy a 8gb version of the rx 480 (sapphire for 310 bucks)

5. Buy a 8gb version of the rx 480 (reference would need advice from which brand (better customer support of msi or sapphire) for 270 bucks)

6. Buy a 4gb version of the rx 480 (sapphire for 250 bucks)

I personally would tend to the rx 470 but not sure which model since I'm only a student and would prefer not to spend too much money. on the other hand would i like to have the best bang for the buck also in the future. I might add that i only have a 400w power supply, so it is not possible to use 2 rx 480 in future, but might be possible to use 2 rx 470 with only 120W tdp. There are currently no reference rx 470 available here.

In all scenarios except for 1 obviously i would sell my 960 for maybe around 130 bucks if possible (msi armor edition)

Sorry for bad english btw.

Edit: 4 is hardly an option because of the high cost.

4GB RX 480 is best value (250$), 8GB would last longer but not as good value.

Get the 4gb rx 480. Also how much does a gtx 1060 cost in your country?

As i said i somehow want to keep my options open wouldn't the 4gb version limit me in terms of vram and cf because of the psu?

A 1060 is not really an option for me (amd fanboy cuz of nvidia's shady business tactics)

If you are running a 1080p monitor then even your 960 should be fine, but 4gb will only be an issue at 1440p, and 4k.

 what psu do you have?

Amd fanboy that has a gtx 960 :P
Although the extra vram would definitely be helpful it isn't worth 60$ imo. With your power supply You'd be fine with 1 card but you would be stretching it with 2 rx 480s or 2 rx 470s.

Don't get CF. get a 480 now and wait for Vega if you want more horse power

960 is shit at 1080p as well. it's a 900p card or lower.

The 480 is a 1080p 60Hz card anyway, and for now, 4Gb is enough for 1080p and won't become obsolete too soon imo. Having 8Gb is great but not quite necessary on a 480. That's why I find the 6Gb of the 1060 to be the sweet spot now for 1080p. But the 4Gb 480 is stil the king of value for 1080p.

470 is slower though. Get a 480 and save up for Vega this october if you feel like you want more.

And you'd get worse performance at the same time. Personally for the settings and resolution which these cards are designed to play at (1080p and at most 1440p) 4gb vram will be fine. If you do find yourself exceeding the vram limit it's not the end of the world, you can counteract this by decreasing the anti aliasing or texture quality.

I was just writing where i found it when i realised i read the numbers wrong: not available from 9.8 but rather 9.9

So i don't know where they are available at right now too xD

One site claims though they can deliver it in 4-8 days
