update [Help Needed] Update failed. Undoing Changes

Hey guys(/girls)

 

I've been having this problem for a while now where my os just can't manage to pull off the update. When I shut my pc down it usually powers down in about 30seconds and boots to desktop in 40s as well but now it's always updating till 100% and then undoing them. I've tried checking for corrupt windows files, came up empty. I've tried the windows troubleshooter which worked for one time but next time it was back. What should i do?

I would clean install windows completely.

Yeah, doing a clean install as @Enderman said, would be good .

But I've had windows 10 for almost a year now won't I lose everything?

Yes which is why you should always back up your data before huge updates.

Back up your data and make a list of your installed programs?

Thanks, and which would be the best way to do that? Also where can I find my key because I no longer have it on paper

Download and run Belarc Advisor to get the key. There are plenty of other ways but it's a useful program to have either way.
