Ok so my roommate picked up 3 4k screens to replace his triple 1080p screens he was using. We have them all connected via display port using a 980ti. Yes, we are aware the card isn't exactly beefy enough to game at 4k, but a lot of his gaming is starcraft 2. He just needs screen space and resolution. However, we have a problem. Sometimes just loading windows will cause the screens to flash on and off, like you're launching a full screen game and your screen has to change resolutions type of flicker, except it can continue to do it for an hour or more. We were trying to play a game earlier and it absolutely wouldn't work. It was just stuck in the loop of screen flicker. I will get a video to make what I'm saying more clear as soon as I can. We have the latest drivers for the components. It's running windows 10 64 bit. We also tried switching one screen to use hdmi, which is 2.0 both on the card and display so 4k @ 60hz works.  Anyone have any clue as to what we can do, or have seen something somewhere? He's to the point where he wants to take my ultrawide, get 2 more and just use those.

My theories:

They are the korean monitors that teksyndicate featured, and possibly the firmware is wonky?

Also, could be that the card simply doesn't like that many pixels when trying to do whatever it's doing, causing it to get stuck in its flicker loop.

Apologies if this sounds a little simple, I am just very tired and the time of posting this :P

Try just 1 screen and see if it continues. I had similar issues with a single monitor due to a bad cable as well. Does it happen on all screens or just one?

Tried a single screen, same thing. He bought new cables from monoprice, and I wouldn't think we would have 3 bad cables. I will need to verify as he said he tried it, but I can't say for sure. I know that it doesn't matter, but per the listing for the screens, they don't officially support 980ti's. I need to bring it in here and see what happens.

How long are the cables?  I had an issue on my monitor because I was using a 5m long cables (the case and the monitor are not placed close together on my setup)  and the cables that came with the monitor was a bit short.  In the end, I had to use the included cables and figure out a way to route them.

The displayport cables has  to be capeable of the bandwidth 4k requires. Try new rabies rated for 4k 60hz. Electrical interferrence also has a lager impact the higher the bandwidth in my experience.  Got no theory to back it up.

They are less than 3m cables. So displayport is like hdmi. Even really crappy cables will work. I thought this was shown on this channel? Not trying to talk anyone down, it's just that that's highly unlikely as again, they are all monoprice cables. Anyone who's used their cables know they make good stuff.
