Motherboard + XMP issue

DDR4-* with values from 1000something up to 4000 if i remember correctly (3200 and higher are there for sure).

Could you try something? Turn off XMP and make sure that your dram voltage is set to 1.35 volts. Then set your dram frequency to something like 2800 MHz (make sure the target BCLK in yellow is at 100 MHz) and then see if it loads. If that works step it up to 3000 then 3200.

Hello there. Im running a AsRock x99 mobo with i7 6800k and 4 sticks of Ripjaws V memory.

Now when i boot up my pc normally its working fine, but if i go into UEFI and actually try to enable the XMP profile (to actually run mems on 3200Mhz instead of 2133Mhz - which was advertised) it just doesnt start anymore. Dr debug is saying to clear CMOS each time i try to do that. Any solution ?

Does your kit change the Bclk? If so, that CPU OC might be the cause of instability.

I have no idea. :)
The only thing im changing is the memory profile. Bclk will be in the advanced / chipset settings i guess?

Turn on XMP and before exiting go and check out your CPU and cache clock speed. If those are super high, then your BCLK is being altered.

If that's the case, go and change the multiplier of your CPU and cache down so that their clock speeds are near what they normally are.

If you go to the specs you'll see that the set was certified as a dual channel kit.  Kits of 4 can get confusing, but they can be certified for dual or quad channel.

Quad channel kits are generally higher binned memory sticks due to the fact that the IMC on Haswell-E and Broadwell-E chips are a lot pickier on memory than its dual channel counterparts.

With that said and despite this, you can get the memory to work fine with some manual tweaking. This includes, but is not limited to relaxed timings, speed and voltage.

XMP itself will probably not work, but can if you add voltage.  I'd try setting enabling XMP and increases DRAM voltage prior to saving and rebooting.  Start with 1.45v and work your way back until it stop booting at rated XMP speed.

Ah shit. Should have known that before :P Would invest in other ram's. Anyways thanks for help and i'll try to run it. :)

@Edit: Tried, no lucks. :( XMP on 1.45V and not booting.

Make sure you didnt overclock your cpu first. Always overclock your ram first (enable xmp) and then overclock. Keep in mind that when you overclock your ram, you cant overclock your cpu as much

I already stated that this is a completly CLEAN FRESH build. No overclock whatsoever, run at stock settings. Just trying to enable xmp seems to fail terribly.

What we're saying is that sometimes when you enable the XMP profile it not only changes the memory ratio but ALSO changes the BCLK, which affects your CPU and cache frequency as well. If enabling XMP is affecting your BCLK and say, changing it from 100 to 150, your CPU would be overclocked from 3. whatever a 6800k is to around 5ghz. Could you go and turn on XMP and BEFORE exiting the bios go and find the part where it tells you about CPU clock speeds and ratios and stuff and tell us what the BCLK is? Thanks.

Heres What i see in The advanced oc panel. Below There are a lot of timings. Primary ones goes like :

15-15-15-35-2N

I Also noticed that if i change to The xmp profile either in Basic editor or advanced one. Only The yellow values are updated. Dunno if it Should work Like that

Should i try to change timing to the ones from XMP profile as well?

@Edit: Tried, no lucks. :( XMP on 1.45V and not booting.

It was worth a shot.  Sometimes even a slight bump in voltage is not enough to overcome the quality difference in the sticks.  X99 is a picky platform for sure.

One more thing to try before switching from XMP to manual overclock, is bumping your VCCSA and VCCIO voltages just a bit.  Those voltages directly impact the memory controller (IMC) on your chip.  Try enabling XMP, setting DRAM voltage to 1.45v, VCCSA around .2v to .3 above stock, and VCCIO around 1.05v to 1.1v.

What you're trying to do is give the memory controller the best chance of running the RAM at its default XMP settings.  If this doesn't work or show some signs of improvement, you'll need to switch to manually overclocking.

You can still manually set your speed,  timings, and voltage in order to get them to run.  You just need to be prepared to sacrifice some in one of those three areas.

Huh. when i manually ran it. It went to the XMP profile that was advertised. o.O

3200Mhz, 16-18-18-38 timings 1.35V.

Should i run some tests on memory? Or if it runs its stable?

Is there any disadventage of manual OC vs XMP if im achieving the same results in manual? Lol

Strange.... Yes. Try running some memory tests to make sure it's stable. If it is... That's weird but at least it works!
