Asus Z87 PRO ( USB power on after shutdown )

Hi Guys!

I've recently bought the Asus Z87 PRO mobo, and yesterday i recieved my Blue Icicle (xlr to usb converter).
Though I noticed when i powered off the system, the "blue icicle" continued getting power through the USB plug.

How do i disable the power on usb after shutdown ? I tried searching the BIOS through, but no luck.

Help is appreciated, thanks :)

Btw :D It's my cake day today!

On my motherboard, only the USB ports connected to the "super power" (I can't remember the proper name for it) internal header remain powered after shut down.

Have you tried a different USB port or internal header?

Also, happy cake day!!!

Uhm - I use the USB on the back of the IO, if that's what your referring to ?

And thanks :'D

i guess the cake isnt a lie? and try a black or blue slot, often other colors provide special things like shutdown power

Ah ok, in that case what I said probably doesn't apply.

I have my front panel USB ports connected to a specific header on my motherboard so that they still supply power when I shut down. It means I can charge my phone and stuff when my PC is off.

I'm afraid if it's on the motherboard I/O, I don't know what to suggest. Sorry I couldn't be of more help :(

Nope - will try and install that.

I had plugged in the mic, but I changed USB port.

It's a problem because my Blue Icicle is still awake when i disable my pc, and by that I'm afraid it will decrease the lifespan of it.. plus it lights up blue and annoys me at night.

yes because i had exact same issue on my 3570k for almost 6 months once my os crashed and i installed everything up to date my pc was finally shutting down but i completely misunderstood the problem (i was reading it on my phone) afaik you cant disable providing power to usb devices even if you pc is off

Off your PSU... / Off the main switch!

Can't turn off the mainswitch (I've got a refridgiator there)

And as you can see on this picture, It's not easy to turn off on the PSU everytime.

Hmmm... May I suggest you buy an power plug adapter which you could switch on and off individual socket on the adapter itself.

It is quite common in my country.

Something like this

I think the best bet is to see if there are any usb headers that dont carry power that you can plug your front panel usb into. Rhyseyness was touching on this idea but i didnt see an answer to if you have tried it.

Corsair 250d - - Delidded i7 4770k @ 4.4GHz (1.15v) - - Asus Maximus VI Impact - - Corsair h100i

Asus DirectCU II OC GTX780 - - NZXT x41 & G10 w/ Push/Pull Noctua IndustrialPPC's - - Corsair ax760i

16GB Corsair Vengeance 2133Mhz  - - Samsung 840 pro (boot) - - Samsung Evo (gaming) - - WD green HDD (data)
