PC Double restarting

Go to solution Solved by KneesWeak,

When I restart or turn it on it will turn on for about 3-4seconds then restart the boot again then fully boot into windows. Just recently put in the new cpu/mobo. 8320/GB 970A-D3P

gigabyte boards do this all the time, i have a 990fx ud3, it boots up normally when the bios is set to optimized defaults but when i set an overclock (all the time) it does this "double restart, doesn't bother me too much only adds like 4 seconds to my boot time

I'm not sure but it seems like it could have to do with the dual bios

Did it do it before? Or did you re-install Windows after doing the upgrade?

with my old motherboard it never did that once. When I installed the new cpu/mobo I did a new windows install

Unplug the restart from the mobo.Maybe its just a bad connection.

ok will try that out

edit: I unplugged the reset sw connector and boots fine without restarting

Mark it as "Answered" than.

It seems to boot up fine once with me unplugging both the power/reset connectors and then re plugging in the power connector. After that it does the same restart stuff again

So when it boots the first time for a few seconds what exactly happens? Do you get any picture on your screen? Does it start booting windows then reboot?

I've seen that before when my board seems to not like the overclock I had on my CPU. It would come on for a few seconds and beep but nothing would show on the screen, then the power led would go out then it would come on, beep again and then I'd finally get a display on my monitor and it would boot normally.

Also, you say you replaced your motherboard and CPU, did you reinstall windows or are you still using the same install from before?

it has nothing to do with your os, contact gigabyte support, i did a weeks worth of troubleshooting, the only thing i changed out was my mobo, so that narrowed it down pretty quickly, gigabyte boards do have some known problems, evga psu incompatibility (sometimes), puny heatsinks, double restart, no boot from usb (a little tricky) i've also heard stuff about infinite boot loops.
