RAM price increase (UK)

Has anyone yet noticed DDR 3 has gone up quite a bit recently, I was going to build a new PC a month or so back and 4GB or DDR3 1333 was about £17ish, it's now well over £30!!! From what I can gather, it's because of a fire in one of the major factories thats caused this really upset about that... it's going to go up when DDR4 gets released anyway, same with DDR2 and DDR. 

 

Just thought I would let you know, whats it like in the US and Canada for prices??

Here in Finland, last summer I bought 8gb 1600 for 30€ now they go for ~70€

i bought some 4x4 1866 dom plat for $110 6 months ago , now they are $257..... im sure glad i pulled the trigger so early

Pretty sure a decent 2x4GB 1600 kit goes for around 80 up here.

Around this time last year I bought a pair of Corsair Vengeance LP 1600 MHz 8GB kit for about £35 now the same kit would cost me £65.

My kit was a 1333 XMS set which cost me £35, it's now £65 for the same set!!! I build for customers and I've had to put only 4GB in a late system build and not the 8GB I was hoping because of this. The customer is aware of this and wants costs to a minimum, but it should in theory start coming down, might take a while like the tsunamis in Thailand wiping the HDD factories.

indeed I was about to buy a 16GB kit for my desktop I was saving then from £60 the price went to £120 I was outraged

Picked up a 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance 1866MHz CL9 kit when I built my rig for £70, it's up to £140 now!

i got 16gb kingston hyperx black for $105 USD. And now it goes for $160. i ony bought the ram a month and 2 weeks ago.
