Quoting myself above I mention that I have the really short (and terribly ugly) Crucal 2133MHz sticks, the green low profile ones.

Do you think those will cause issues? I've filled out all 8 slots.

Silence is one of the most important things I'm going for now, that and cooling. I've heard most about DRP3 being the most quiet but that it loses in cooling performance by 1-2 degrees compared to the R1 Ultimate, those two degrees are not an issue. Based on those facts I'm going for the DRP3. However I have not yet heard anything at all about the PH-TC14PE, I noticed it's the cheapest of the three and it souits my color theme.

Which one would you pick if you were going after my criteria? Becuase I'm assuming that the DRP3 will fit.

Those are standard profile sticks and not low profile. That being said, most coolers are designed with standard profile ram in mind and there should be no clearance issues with any of the coolers.

The PH-TC14PE is between the R1 Ultimate and DRP3 in both performance and noise. It can be very quiet with low fan speeds. If you need it to be as quiet as possible, the DRP3 would be the best choice at the cost of being the hardest to install. Otherwise, the PH-TC14PE is still a great and quiet option.

Best performing, goodlooking and above all silent CPU air cooler, noctuas can be considered if they're worth the price when adding black fans compared to other stuff.

Trying to stick to a Black/White theme in my build. I have a fully functional H100i but it's faaaaar too loud.

EDIT: I want something really high performing, I'm on a 4.6GHz 5820K.

How about a CM Hyper 212 and replace the fan?

This is more like it, though I've heard many avoid the Dark Rock PRO 3 due to mounting issues?

Haven't heard anything about the Cryorig R1 Ultimate, will look at it now.

Okay so I've been looking into these, comparing the two DRP3 seems to be the more popular one due to its silence but will lose in terms of performance by 1-2 degrees.

In the end it seems 50-50 though, so I guess I just close my eyes and point basically. I think I'm leaning towards the DRP3 though, even if it has tedious mounting.

Will it block RAM though?

The DPR3 admittedly has a finicky mounting process and is harder to install in comparison to something such as the Noctua NH-D15 but I dare say it's the quietest out of all the big air coolers. The Cryorig R1 Ultimate does cool slightly better but it'll be louder.

Both air coolers have an adjustable front fan so RAM clearance isn't an issue. They will, however, block the view of your RAM. Whether or not that's a big deal is up to you.

Okay, I'll probably go for it then. I kinda like the idea of it blocking the view of my ram since I have the cheap Crucial 2133Mhz sticks.

They can both overhang the ram slots so it would depend on the ram.

R1 Ultimate and PH-TC14PE are both great coolers with the latter being quieter.

Another shorter option that's available would be a Macho Rev. B

Ah great!

This is basically all I've been looking for, I'll make my decision based on what you told me.

Thank you, kind sir!

I'll throw my vote in for the Dark Rock Pro 3. It is a pain in the behind to mount properly (make sure you watch a video and read the instructions thoroughly) but it is completely worth the hassle of the install for the results.

It's whisper quiet and the aesthetics are beautiful. It also knocked around 5-10c off my temps compared to my h100i.

Really? It beat the temps of your H100i?

Aye it did, I was quite shocked, the only reason I switched to it was because the whirring of the pump was starting to annoy me. Nice surprise to see my temps drop from around 75-80c to 65-70c under load (after a warm up of course).

This sounds awfully werid to me.. Was your thermal paste on your CPU properly placed when you hade your H100i? Becuase the H100i is supposed to beat DRP3 when it comes to cooling performance.

Oh yes, I've remounted that thing loads of times, the thing is, when reviewers test the h100i they have the fans on stupidly loud levels, usually in an open air config with no dust filters or restrictions.

If you add those things in and some NF-F12s instead of the stock fans (which actually perform better at full rpm but are crazy loud) you end up gaining a few extra degrees.

That and the h100i mount is so poor, even with a few rubber spacers on the backplate, the cooler is no-where near as tight as the DRP3.
