So I am trying to put PfSense on a IBM 8670-G1X. Its a pretty old machine rocking 2x 3.2Ghz Xeons, 3 ish GB's of RAM, and a small fighter jet (Noise wise). I got PfSense to boot off of a CD (32 bit pfsense). Basically, its stuck on a message reading: "run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 300 seconds for xpt_config". What do I do to stop it. Thanks

Try disabling non needed devices in the bios and removing cards.

FreeBSD is know to not like some hardware, and this might be one of those models. There are others like untangle, ipfire, and plain tcp/ip stack on linux/freebsd you can use.

Found this online:

  • If the system hangs right after detecting the hard drives, and the floppy drive light is on, turn off floppy support in the BIOS.
  • If the system stops with an error such as:
run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 60 seconds for xpt_action
Disable any Firewire/1394 controllers and USB Card Readers in the BIOS.

The issue is that I don't have firewire and I havre no idea where to turn off USB card readers and stuff
