I am very new to water cooling so questions I asked might be plain 'smack on the face'. :D

I'm starting a project on creating a table with a build in CPU. It's like those you saw on YouTube. I've been learning for 2 days on water cooling (mass youtube guide on watercooling and different forums for cross reference) but i might miss out on some important do's and dont's.

I'm getting my waterblock for GPU 770gigabyte  from XSPC, CPU from swiftech (ApogeeHD), Memory (?) from XSPC (not sure if I would water cool my ram or not let me know.) Reservoir from XSPC (Proton D5)

So...

Should I get all my watercooling parts from the same brand?

Radiator, looing at Triple one's. which brand?? what types ?? and why??

I have space for hard tubes, i think the name for it is Crystal link? but i could not find it anywhere.. any recommendation? or does tubing do a better job and longer lasting?

Reservoir, Bigger better? Will two small reservoir work?

I've 2 choice of mobo to look into for Overclocking and Longer Lasting (due to my budget) Z87 sabertooth or Maximus Hero IV ?

Watercooled RAMs? Yes No? Ram are not cheap in my area. and is it Cosair Dominator are the only ram that can be watercooled?

Let me know guys! Thanks

P.S. I briefly read through the newbie guide for water cooling in this forum already. I'm not a reader I'm a do'er and listener, so much of text in 2 days makes me lost interest.. so if there is anything important to take note of. PLEASE let me know. I do not want to short my system. :P

watercooling ram is retarded, and should not be done, and no, other ram can be watercooled aswell. I would go for the sabertooth mobo.

mixing brands dosent matter , mixing metals is what  you have to be careful of

i like xspc Rads and what ever you can fit in your case comfertably

hard tubes i would hold off on , it took me a week to tube mine up and i have prier WC exp.

res its up to you size dosnt matter that much

check if thoses motherboards have blocks made for them

dont watercool RAM

hope this helped

Mixing metal? what do i have to look out for? meaning i cant mixed copper with nickel ?

copper and nickel is ok, i mean copper and alu. that could cause corrosion and eat at your blocks

"Do not mix metals"

You can have
copper, nickel, brass, stainless steel in the same loop
If you have any metal like this do not use something that is aluminum. Doing so will causeGalvanic corrosion which is very bad

  • Make sure your GPU is reference. Go to www.coolingconfigurator.com
  • There are 3 types of acrylic (hard) tubing. Crystal Link, EK HD, and Primochill Acrylic tubing. Primochill is by far the easiest to work with as you can bend the tubing using heat (you can do this with other tubing too but primochill is pushing the concept).
  • With z87 board price doesn't = better performance, go with the cheapest, unless you prefer the looks or features on the Hero.

I would also like to point out that what people are saying about mixing metals is not true when you use a coolant with a corrosion inhibitor. (most coolants come with this or you can buy a corrosion inhibitor and mix it with water.) You can mix metals in your loop.

There is no difference between them,BP,EK ,E22 and primochill tube are both formed the same way.

Please check my acrylic pipebending thread in this forum.

The one i have running on OCN has many pages of useful info on forming.

Mixing metals is not advised, inhibitors only slow corrosion, not stop it dead.

Did you read the bracket after that bold part at all? -_-

Also, Crystal link has a smaller diameter so it can be quite restrictive from what I have heard. Bitspower also do not sell their own brand of tubing in long lengths like Primochill does.

I did. Primochill are late to the party by a few months. We were already doing acrylic loops on OCN with BP fittings and E22 tube or E22 pushfit.

E22 was pushing it long before Primochill.

Im not sure how Primochill is far easier to work with when the method for all acrylic tube is identical....

Do you not go on any other forums?

Primochill is easier to go with because most water-cooling retailers stock everything you need to use their acrylic tubing in one place.

And no I don't go on other forums because I don't like the atmosphere in them, people arguing over the smallest things; "making a mountain out a molehill" is the correct phrase I think.

Okay. I've checked www.coolingconfigurator.com . But XSPC has a 770 full cover waterblock. Gigabyte 770 4gb cant fit?

Will hard tubing any complication in the future? or soft tubing is better?

Also, can i go with 2 cylinder shaped res? or 2 will just complicate things?

Except that none of the Primochill stuff is interchangeable with any of the other fitting manufacturer's...

While 12/10mm that Bitspower use is very well supported by a variety of manufacturer's.

Its not a molehill when someone follows bad advice and it costs them money, the devil is in the details as they say.

If you have never tubed a rig before then go with traditional tube, the learning curve with acrylic is quite steep.

You can have 2 res in a loop but it serves no purpose.

This^. Keep your first water cooling loop as simple as possible, if you do hard tubing you need a heat gun and a lot of patience, be expected to mess up and loose at least 1/2 of the acrylic. Go with traditional tube, there is no point of having 2 reservoirs, it will just make the loop way more complicated an may actually hurt cooling performance (depending on where the pump is). My advice is to make sure you have copper based rads and blocks (nickel platted is fine) get a good pump (D5 is the best in my opinion), and get the most rad space you can in the case you have (you should have 120 worth of space for each component plus 120 for overhead). Frozencpu has a great selection, start there.

as far as MB go, either are good motherboards, unless you get lemon of a motherboard it will last a long long time. and as far as overclock ability goes, as long as the MB lets you overclock, they all preform within a few percent of each other since the CPU is a much more important factor in overclocking.

Okay. will take note. i'll go for regular tubing then. I'm planning to get all the watercooling parts from XSPC. or is there a cheaper brand?

This is kind of out of topic but by any chance you guys know where to get a ATX motherboard tray with I/O shield and Expansion Slot Covers without Fan Mesh?

Give me some website for reference/buy

FYI - I do not think most 770 blocks fix the 4GB edition due the extra ram...They may state "770 reference compatible", but the 4GB variant is not a reference card... Maybe someone is now making a specific block for the 4GB variant?

Check http://www.coolingconfigurator.com/ if EK doesn't have it probably doesn't exist (or is highly boutique and therefore expensive).

EDIT. Just looked and EK doesn't have a full cover for the 4GB version.
