I'd wait for some of the cheaper aftermarket 4GB Radeon RX 480s to emerge. They should be roughly $200.

If not the RX 480, the R9 380 and R9 380X are both better performing cards than the GTX 960. Paying a $200 for a GTX 960 is a bad move and you're essentially getting ripped off.

960 is really a very poor price/performance card.

I can understand people buying a 950 or a 970 but never a 960, I don't even know why it exist...

With the R9 270X, you wont get Ultra settings with 1080p resolution on a 4790k. High preset sure it would hit 50-60 fps but its cutting it. If your interested in BF1 for example than a GPU upgrade is needed. (270X is starting to sweat a bit for me). Id go for the 1060 if possible, 960 is older and aint that great unlike the 1060, which has performance similar to the 980 give or take.

The Unconvinced Man. More to the topic, under 200$ I think the RX 470 is going to be released, but don't know when, so if you want a card now, a 200$ RX 480 4gb should suit you well.

Now that the RX 480 is out, you may as well get that card (when it's in stock and actually being sold at $200-$250).

The GTX 960 is still a decent card and should be something to consider if you're willing to go into buying used. It's significantly better than a GTX 950 or a GTX 750 Ti. I personally own a 960, myself, actually.

LOL...you mean 60%?!

The GTX 960 is a weak ass POS...nvidia cut it way too much...it's in fact to my knowledge the one and only graphics card from nvidia that i have NEVER recommended to anybody on the forum...it just doesn't make sense...AMD at the same price point had the R9 380 which is a good 20%+ faster across the board and even more than that in some titles...the GTX 960 unless you can find for like 102$ or something...leave it there.

If the price range is about 100-200 $ then my choice is for AMD or Nvidia's RX480 or 1060.

The RX480 will benefit from Vulkan/DX12 while the 1060 will get minimal performance increase.

The 1060 lacks SLI while the RX480 can use crossfire.

The RX480 has ''some'' energy improvements while 1060 are minimal.

1060 ages badly while RX480 has a brighter future.

RX480 lacks good software like Shadowplay while 1060 can use it.

Both cards have their pros and cons

P.S : wait for better 3rd party vendors for AMD
