Posted July 26, 2016 Unless the 1060 is $20+ more than the 480, the 1060 is the best choice. And don't even consider the 4GB 480, it's not worth it. Just pay a bit more for the 8GB. These days 6GB of vram is the minimum acceptable, 8GB is even better. Posted July 26, 2016 Just pre-order the RX 480 Nitro 8G+ OC for 309 euro. All the aftermarket GTX 1060s are 350+ euro except the Gainward, which is 325. And the EVGA single-fan card, 315 euro. Posted July 26, 2016 Honestly I think in general the 480 is best when it comes price to performance, especially when the higher end 480 offers 2 extra GB of Vram for close to the same price as a 1060, from what I'm seeing in MSRP a little less. But the 1060 is still a solid card especially with Nvidia's Pascal tech like Single Pass Stereo that makes multi-monitor and VR awesome. Or basically anything that Nvidia takes advantage of? Well I'm saying that the 1060 is a little faster card but it also is a little more expensive, the RX 480 does hold its own though against it and gets pretty close. The 8GB of VRAM vs the 6GB of VRAM is really nice too especially when you get into 4K gaming, Nvidia does have the market share though so its tech is more widely used and the Single Pass Stereo in particular is a nice feature, but overall I think the RX 480 is best for price for performance. These days even 1080p can use over 4GB if you run at high or ultra (which these GPUs can handle) So it's more of a preventative measure to ensure that within the next few years you won't be limited by vram at all, even if you decide to switch to 1440p, 4k, or multi-monitor.
