Which GPU is better?

Hello,

Which one of these two manufacturers GPUs are better and why:

MSI GTX 750 Ti Gaming OC

Asus GTX 750 Ti OC

MSI. Better customer support. That is all. Maxwell overclocks very well so any gap in Mhz is easily overcome but don't expect too much since the 750 Ti use the whole 75W from the PCIe slot.

I am looking for an older GPU so my mobo would be able to run it, because my ASUS GTX 460 died few days ago.

Motherboards don't affect GPUs. You can run a 1080 on a old board

RX 460 or RX 470 when they come out. The CPU should handle those

You can look into a GTX 960/Radeon 380 or wait for the RX 470/ GTX 1050 (whenever they come out). Your Core 2 may bottleneck in extreme circumstances but most games should be okay.

Agreed.  Although, he might experience a little bit of CPU bottleneck in some games.  But these are very cheap GPUs and will be really amazing for the money, even with the very old CPU.

What's their performance tho. If it is anything above a 270x in terms of performance a stock core 2 quad will bottleneck in most games.

We will have to wait and see. But for 100$ - I can't say no to a RX 460

If the 460 is as good as say a gtx 760/gtx 950 while the 470 is similar to a 380/380x in performance then amd are golden.

I just hope they don't have the stock issues that the rx 480 has.

Still doesn't really excuse it, imo. If it did then that would also excuse the fucking pricing/stock monstrosity that is the 1080.

A weak CPU cannot keep the GPU fed and thus will cause the GPU to not be able to reach 100% usage

Hold up:

If the motherboard is really that old, it probably has pcie 2.1 equipped, which had a significantly smaller transfer rate than 3.0. Although it is hard to max out a pcie slot, you might see a bottleneck if running a newer, more powerful card.

That said, there is no way a 750 is going to max it out, and you are probably safe with an RX 460 as well.

Go with whichever has a higher base clock, because overclocking on that old mobo will not be fun.
