Making custom Laptop

I'm collecting money to make my own laptop. I realized that newegg or amazon doesn't sell laptop motherboards or cpu. Is there a reliable website where i can buy laptop parts? Some companies have to sell laptop parts right??

Look into MSI barebone components.

My company buys these and they are pretty much universal.

You assemble them in pieces and are available to the public.

It's really not worth it. The amount of different laptops out there make it so that there has to be one that will fit you.

You can customize it to some degree with a whitebox laptop but I'm not aware of any way for a consumer to purchase them, let alone in individual quantity.  You can order the finished products from boutique vendors like Maingear, who can buy the barebones laptops in bulk and customize the spec to your order but there isn't total freedom in your customization options, it is pretty limited.  The insides of a laptop as well as the motherboard BIOS are designed specifically for every different laptop, there are no standardized motherboards, thermal systems, or casing layouts.

Why would you want to build a custom laptop? Laptop parts are supplied through OEM Manufacturers. If you want portability, build a Mini-ITX machine. More customization abilities.

How would you mount the gpu so that its flat? You would have to take apart a laptop, dig out the motherboard and go from there surely?
