GTX 1070 not supersampling?

I was playing some less demanding games like bioshock infinite and tried supersampling, and it worked for 1440p. When i supersample to 4k, it works normally, but in games, it just has a black screen with the actual 4k image flickering in a line on the top of the screen. I usually play at 1440p or 1080p for games like witcher 3 but for the older ones i'd like to play in 4k because...i can. So did you guys find a fix? maybe its because i'm using hdmi 1.4 and can't load 4k 60fps? or is it because of my 1080p monitor? Any help?

i'm not sure if it could be your HDMI connection because the monitor still only displays 1080p.

You could try a DP/DVI cable though.

yea im getting hdmi 2.0 and a displayport adapter for a second monitor (both monitors don't have DP) and i don't think DVI can do 4k 60fps...

If your monitor is 1080p, the graphics card is only sending a 1080p image to it. The supersampling just means it makes a more anti-aliased 1080p image, that's all.

but why can't it do that for 4k? if its a 1080p image, then it should be fine downsampling from 4k right?

It sounds like the game is having some issues with the graphics settings. Where are you enabling the super sampling? Geforce experience, NVidia control panel, windows itself?

When in doubt, re-format.

I'm setting the resolution in the nvidia control panel, yet when i set the game to anything above 1440p., then it just spazzes out and it seems as though a black bx is covering the display with a little gap at the top.
