Keycap pullers

Are all keycap pullers the same or are there differences?

What one would be a better option for my blackwidow?

I prefer wire key cap pullers because they can pull off keys bigger than 1x1.

Some pull of the keys in different ways.

The wire ones are the best in my opinion http://www.ebay.ca/itm/KBC-Keycap-Puller-/231054795386?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35cbf0627a&_uhb=1 , more versatile and don't have a chance on damaging your keys.

What do you mean? Can the other ones only pull off the letters not the enter/spacebar keys .etc?

They can, but its allot more fiddly to get them off, compared to using wire ones.

The switches are rather sturdy so I doubt it but you might damage the stabilizers that are under the space bar and shift etc because these http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Plastic-Keycap-Puller-/231026860057?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35ca462019&_uhb=1 kind of ones lock onto the key and pull it out, so it can damage the sides of the keys (scratch them etc) and getting keys with stabilizers is more of a hassle than using wire ones as you need to be careful of how much force you put into it.

 

Or you can just fashion two paper clips into a key puller works just as -well

Letters on the keyboard are 1x1, and the ring key cap pullers can only pull 1x1 key caps if you insert the caps horizontally into the puller. If you have noticed, if you lay the caps down, they are a bit longer than wide, so it might not fit in the ring cap pullers.

+1 for wire pullers. They don't scratch your keycaps.

do NOT buy a plastic puller. Grab the wire puller, it's so much easier to use and you can't scratch your precious key caps

Get and use the wire puller. For longer keys such as Spacebar and right shift, you should be able to remove them with your hands after removing all the keys.

Yep, another vote for wire key cap puller, I use one for all my boards....both Cherry MX and Topre. BTW, what keyboard did you get? I find that I have quite a few spare since a puller usually comes with my Filco and Ducky keyboards.....and I have quite a few of them.

+1 on the wire one, the plastic ones will scratch your keycaps over time.

I've been using 2 paperclips bent into loops and taped together for years. Get a wire one or make one yourself.
