you are say they have the same performance or you mean they have same functionality such as NVIDIA experience?

Same functionality, and in your case performance. The rx 480 is not a top performance card, its a midrange card.

GTX 770 to RX 480 not being an upgrade?

The GTX 770 about equal to a R9 380.

I don't agree that it is the most sound and worthwhile upgrade, but it is still an upgrade never less.

hi

I have been use NVIDIA card for long time from now. I am considering buying a amd card(rx480). So what are the advantages for amd cards and what is the disadvantages for amd cards?

Advantages include better dx12/vulkan/async support (where available), freesync capabilities on monitors (doesn't raise the price of monitors like gsync), and overall cheaper pricing for performance. The 480 also uses less power than the 770.

Disadvantages include not being able to use NVIDIA's proprietary Gameworks functionality, and not as strong in tessellation based games (crysis, batman, etc.). Not that you'll notice.

A 480 is better than your card. About 30% better across the board and much more on vulkan/dx12. The 8GB VRAM is always good but how much you benefit from it depends on what you play and at what resolutions.

No actually the performance graphs show 40% better performance.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

You really should be using DDU to clean install the drivers, it's good practice and prevent future problems from conflicting version of the drivers.

try finding 980ti for cheap if you can insted of 480 and 1060 since they arent really that big of a upgrade from 770. You can also go with what ever is amd's equivelent for it, but im not sure what it actually is

Yup. AMD has many of the same technologies but open/free versions, so you're not paying more for them. Drivers are easy to update. Get a non-reference cooler model by the way if you decide to buy one.

What games do you play or applications do you use the most? If most of your main games are Gameworks (like world of warcraft or fallout 4) then you wouldn't be happy switching over probably and would be better off getting a GTX 1060. You should really think about what you're going to be playing or working on. :)
