Best prebuilt?

Well..... you should really talk to Tech Support at NCIX or whatever other reputable PC builder you pick.

But for the workload your shooting for... multi-video editing, compiling, etc... you probably want the latest goodies.  Shaving a few minutes off render times and compiling times can really add up over time.

An i7-6950x or maybe the latest Xeon.  An X99 Motherboard.  At least 64gb of ram, maybe since you have the budget, fill it up with 128gb.  An Intel 750 pCI-E NVME drive and probably a Quadro graphics card.

That will put you over 5k.

Could you make a list?

A case is personal preference.  Whatever you like from $50 to $1000 :)

But I still encourage you to discuss the options with a professional builder.  I'm just a gamer / hack computer builder that reads some tech stuff :)

I'd say to shy away from an Intel Extreme CPU, a workstation should probably use a Xeon. But then again I only dabble in Workstation stuff so I'm not the biggest expert ever.

My bad, it wasn't in the original post but I do see now.  I'm so use to having the gamer in mind when making suggestions on this forum.  Although most of the info in my post is still relevant, I would just emphasis more on storage and CPU cores.

4 hours ago, BottleMeANeck said:

Ok so i will try NCIX for them to build it for me...can anyone create me a $7000 machine since i think ill just save $2000 more before upgrading

Here yah go: http://secure.ncixus.com/ncixpc/ncixpc.cfm?uuid=F0731DE3-1DC3-43C3-B8A468DB402A06C9-6948399

As mentioned above, I went for more CPU cores, so the 6850k fits your needs.  And I configured this with a 512gb samsung 950 ssd + 2x4tb WD blacks.  I would recommend mirroring the two WD drives when you get it.

EDIT:  I took the video card out of the build if you feel like the Quadro suits you better.  It'll be a bit better if you're strictly doing CAD, rendering, and things of that nature, while the GTX has gaming more in mind, but can still run what you need to run for the most part.

Ok, for some reason the link still has the 1080.  Just take the 1080 out if you think you want the quadro instead, otherwise if you think you may want to try it with the 1080 first, leave it there.

I remember that was a popular suggestion with the 560 ti, but is it really worth going back two gens now compared to getting a quadro?

You don't need a $5,000 computer...  you need a pair of computers, maybe $4K total between them, not including monitors...

If you have a lot of videos to render, you don't want to render them on your main work machine, you want a dedicated computer for just that.  You just queue up the renders and let it do its thing, while you continue to use your main machine.

All of the rest of that doesn't require all that much of a computer.  You can build a pair of really nice i7-6800K based computers for $4K total.

Less spending, more education, would be called for...  Or a trusted adviser to help who isn't also selling him something.

You'd be surprised really no point in spending that much, especially for a prebuilt, 5960X $1000, X99 mobo $400, decent ram $150, ~$300-400 for storage, $150-200 for case and psu is about $2000 add in a GPU for $600 if you need it, though I doubt you will

One more thought...

If you really want a high end render machine...  rather than spending $1,700 on Broadwell-E 10 core, consider a dual CPU Xeon machine...

For less than $2K you can get a nice ASUS dual socket motherboard, a pair of Xeon 10 core CPUs that turbo up to 3.1GHz, for a total of 20 cores, 40 threads.

If you're just rendering, that will give you more performance than anything you can overclock the i7-6950x to...

That's because there's no straight answer to your question, they don't just pre-build PCs of the type you're asking for, which is different then what you originally inquired about. There are multiple ways you can go about it though if you go the DIY route.  All we can do is give you recommendations - that's pretty much what you'll find on any tech forum.

What I can tell you straight up is that a computer that does what you're asking takes work to configure, you need some tech knowledge to begin with. Linus has a video about a computer that handles multiple clients (not for rendering necessarily, but same concept) that takes a lot of knowledge to configure properly.  It's also far less efficient for the money and time than just building multiple computers, unless you're in the type of field that deals with servers for enterprise. SuperMicro does build workstation towers with multi CPU sockets, like was mentioned above, but these are special made-to-order type PCs that you'll need to inquire about directly with SuperMicro.  Again, you have to really know what it is you're buying if you're dealing with this type of thing.

Some solid recommendations were given to you besides the accusations of you being a troll, such as where to buy your machine, what types of components to upgrade, and what is considered overspending (having the same performance for a fraction of the cost).

If one of your college roommates knows how to build a computer and operating multiple virtual machines off of thin clients, let them help you with that.  But heck, I'm not even 'aloud' to do that in my college dorm (they won't let me have a switch).
