Hey everyone,

I just bought myself a brand new MSI 1070 gaming x.

First question, I managed a stable overclock of 2100 Mhz without touching the voltage. Would that kind of overclock be considered a silicon lottery winner? (so I can brag) :)

Secondly, I am running a 1080p monitor and I went to play GTA V on it. All the reviewers say the 1070 can easily run all games at max settings at this resolution.

I used the geforce game optimizer and it was basically at the highest setting while being at optimal.

I fired it up and I was barley getting 50 fps. The game was unplayable with micro stutters everywhere and dipping frame rates.

The temperature of the card stayed at 40 so it wasn't temperature. This lead me to believe the CPU was a massive bottleneck.

I am running an AMD A10-5800K. It is water cooled with a corsair H110i GTX.

It is running at it's factory clock speed.

Is the culprit the CPU?

Cheers :)

CPU is huge bottleneck for you.

get i5 6600k if you can afford one

GTX 1070 can dominate everything at 1080p and 1440p on ultra settings at 60fps.

silicon lottery? I got 2136MHz stable for hours and hours with just precision X and no voltage changes. Most card can do that :)

2200MHz on core? Now that's what I would call something rare.

Cheap ass 1151 socket mobo and i5 6500 could be quite cheap upgrade. Or get z170 chip mobo and get some upgrade path on it
