Posted October 6, 2013 I tried Hotspot Shield and for me it wasn't that great. Really I quite like it. Its easy to use and fast. I've had great experiences with them. The only gripe I have is that their firefox addon overlaps with the 'new tab' button on the skin I'm using if I have lots of tabs open. Posted October 6, 2013 The existence of VPNS irritates me. From hotspot shield: Hotspot Shield VPN is the ultimate website unblocker. It can bypass filters and firewalls set by your network administrator to gain access to your favorite content at your school, the library or your office. Use it to get access to Facebook and YouTube and unblock Twitter, unblock gaming websites, unblock Gmail or any site. It’s free and does not require any administrative permission to download, install or run on your work computer. Just download it from our website and you are ready to unblock any site and watch the content privately. Thanks for trying to let kids view porn at school you cretinous asshats. BYOD is a damn minefield now. Not sure how they conclude you don't need administrative access to install the software on a PC. They'll have a damn hard time installing it on our domain machines. The only gripe I have is that their firefox addon overlaps with the 'new tab' button on the skin I'm using if I have lots of tabs open. You should be able to move it. Right click on an empty area in your tab bar. Press "Customize..." then they simply drag it to wherever you want. Thanks for trying to let kids view porn at school you cretinous asshats. Think of the children!! They might see a naked person and be traumatized for the rest of their lives! I'm joking with you. I can honestly feel your pain as someone who has designed a few security policies. Things like these kind of circumvent a lot of security the networking personnel implements. It's not really VPNs fault, it's that the technology is being misused. I used to use Tor to access blocked websites when I was in high school though, so I totally understand why students does it. Well if a sixth former (college) was to bring their own laptop and use hotspot shield they could show students porn. The IT nerd team would be responsible and by law we are able to be SUED :0! That's why I find vpn companies reprehensible. Especially since they highlight the ability to bypass filtering to waste my tax money and threaten me as a feature of their product. Posted October 11, 2013 I've used Hotspot and had to remove it after a few days. It prevented some web pages from loading properly, slowed my browsing to a crawl sometimes. I'm currently looking for a new VPN, hopefully with a trial. Any suggestions? PIA does look good, pity it doesn't have a trial.
 Because your ISP limits your upload speed, using a VPN can bypass, usually only temporarily, the restrictions on bandwidth set by your ISP I am good at computer Spoiler Motherboard: Gigabyte G1 sniper 3 | CPU: Intel 3770k @5.1Ghz | RAM: 32Gb G.Skill Ripjaws X @1600Mhz | Graphics card: EVGA 980 Ti SC | HDD: Seagate barracuda 3298534883327.74B + Samsung OEM 5400rpm drive + Seatgate barracude 2TB | PSU: Cougar CMX 1200w | CPU cooler: Custom loop
