So today i took off my cpu fan and put it back on without applying more thermal paste. Now, when i turn it on, the fans spin for a second, then there is a beep and they turn off.

It keeps doing this until i pull the plug on the PSU. Helpppp

ok first off,

1. when putting a CPU cooler back on ALWAYS put new thermal compound on, unless you are trying to kill your CPU, do this

2. if you still can't power the PC on you have most likely killed you CPU, so get a new one

****SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH IT'S REALLY TERRIBLE*****

Been married to my wife for 3 years now! Yay!

The PC is turning off because the CPU is getting too hot. It doesn't have sufficient contact with the heatsink without the thermal paste directly adhered to both components. Taking the heatsink off and putting it back on does not provide that adhesion.

As everyone else implied, don't do that.
