Hey Everyone,

So I'm sitting at a LAN right now and my friend and I decided to play BF4 Beta, I told him to install the new nvidia drivers on his Alienware M17x and somehow they made his performance MUCH worse.

We uninstalled them and tried to do a rollback to the previous version but it gave the error "hardware not recognized" or something like that.

Any idea whats up?

Also; sorry if this is the wrong section

That's cute. Have you ever personally owned an Alienware or extensively used one? If not you save yourself the effort and stop replying here.

@OP, try to reinstall the 320 drivers perhaps? I never ran into these issues.

AW's aren't that bad. :D

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

Not bad at all it is just that they are overpricing some of their (NOT ALL) products to the degree of stupidity  :(

Plus, the reference GTX 660 is supposed to have 1.5GB of Vram, but they removed .5GB on my 660.

Well seeing as the thread is solved I will just indulge in a bit of alienware bashing.

Alienware cases and laptops are utterly revolting. They are lacking in any measure of class and are aesthetically aimed at adolescent boys, a terrible market to go after as they tend to have little money.

I can't be bothered to talk specs as they aren't beyond doing weird shit like pairing 550ti SLI with 3960xs or some shit.

Find me an Alienware with that hardware setup :) Like desktops the the chassis is personal preference just because you say its ugly doesn't mean that's the be all and end all.

May have been a 3930k not a 3960x, but I'm sure the aurora r3 had a variant with 550ti SLI option because I remember showing it to someone in disbelief.

Chassis is personal preference, but my preference happens to be the correct preference. :D

I agree desktops are stupid but just because that's on option doesn't mean you have to buy it. Also we where talking about there laptops mostly. That's why I questioned that hardware setup. Sager is the only company I know of that puts desktop hardware in a laptop.
