Hi guy, i would like to seek some advice regarding heat sink for my CPU as this is very first custom built desktop

The following are the specs:

  1. Motherboard: Asus B150 Pro Gaming Aura
  2. CPU: Intel i5 6500
  3. GPU: Asus GTX 960 Turbo 4GB
  4. PSU: HEXA+ 550 Watt
  5. RAM: 2X 4GB G.Skill Ripjaw.
  6. Casing: CM K282

Idle temperature for CPU clocked in at 35C(min) & 40C(max)

Light usage clocked in at 40C(min) & 50C(max)

Gaming usage clocked in at 50C(min) & 60C(max)

Questions

  1. Do i still require a heat sink for my CPU based on the above stats i've provided?
  2. Based on the Spec that i've provided above, what would be a dangerous temperature range i should look out for.

Many thanks for your answer, guys!

No you don't, it's fine, but if you think its too loud under load then yeah you will need to replace it with something better.

1. No, those temps are perfectly fine. 60C is great. If the noise of the stock cooler bothers you, then yes, you could consider getting a quieter aftermarket cooler.

2. The i5 6500 should be able to operate until 90C-100C, but it's usually recommended to keep your CPU below 80C. You're fine.

Your temps are good and you're fine up to 80-90c at load.

Yes, you need a heatsink and the stock one will do just fine.
