Best under $300

Everyone seems to be in a disagreement, and I want to know specific opinions, because I am in the market for a new card

What is the best graphics card to get for under $300 USD?

I've heard the gtx 1060 isn't going to be as good as thought, maybe I read wrong

so... rx 480? gtx 1060? a used 970, 980 or 980 ti?

SLI out of the picture by the way

USD / CAD ???

1060 is going to be more powerful than 480. Pricvewise we dont know. It is expected to be OVER $300 USD.

As of today the RX 480, but keep an eye on the launch of the GTX 1060 this tuesday

How can you know if the 1060 is going to be more powerful? It's not out yet.

Eh leaked benchmarks don't mean much, anyways yeah the 1060 is in a different price bracket than the RX 480. But I think the RX 480 is going to do better because its cheaper and if it's like only a 5% difference between each card in favor of the 1060, then that's less motive for someone to spend more on it.

Well thats up to the buyer to decide if he wants the best for his money (not value wise but best terms of performance).).

For 1080p, the RX 480 is a pretty great option. You can expect to max out games while getting over 60 fps. If I was you I'd buy a 4GB for $200 and pocked the $100+ you'd save over buying a 1060. Although you should still wait and see how the 1060 really is. It could be awesome. But I highly doubt you will find them in stock anytime soon (kinda like how the RX 480 and 1080 are right now...).
