One router and 2 range extenders

Hello all,

I have one main Linksys Router that connects to the Internet via PPPOE (I live in Dubai). Additionally I have 2 range extenders, 1 Dlink DAP-1320 and a TPlink RE355. It's a pretty big apartment.

Are there any settings on the router, extenders or mobile devices, where my devices can automatically connect to the strongest available connection? My parents aren't very tech savvy and this would help them a lot.

Thank you very much for all your replies.

As long as all the Access Points send out the same network with the same SSID and the same password, I believe the devices themselves should pick the strongest signal automatically. Anyone else please correct me if I'm wrong though.

They should work this way, but IMO and experiences with them it has not been the case. If you only want them for general connection to the internet for web browsing etc, then they might be fine... if you want them for higher bandwidth stuff like downloading/streaming then I'd look for a better solution. My experiences with them was not great at all for anything but light usage, they would invariably stick with an extender far longer than they should and then you'd get very slow speed network/internet access. I ended up switching to use access points instead, and have them with different SSID names so the user can tell which one they are using and switch if needed. The access points are connected to the router via powerline adaptors and IMO give a much better experience. So you could name the Access Points something like :- Living room, Bedroom 1, Conservatory telling you where the nearest AP is for instance, that way when people are brosing for an SSID that is what they will see, and choose the nearest AP to them.
