Skyrim stuck in borderless fullscreen

I have my modded version of skyrim on my external hdd so I can play it on my laptop when I travel (currently using my laptop as my daily over the summer), however an issue poped up. The game seems to be stuck in bordereless fullscreen, which is an issue on my laptop as it forces the game to run in 3200x1600 which gives barely playable fps. It was not an issue on my desktop, as it is after and has a lower resolution screen (1440p).

 

I remembered that one of the mods I had installed allowed the game to run in bordereless fullscreen for fast app switching, however even with the mod uninstalled, and the .ini files set to fullscreen, the still starts in bordereless...

 

Any help would be appreciated.

okay this might sound stupid but try pressing alt + enter and see what's that's gonna give you
maybe try and change the settings in the launcher? maybe it's just stuck on some value so if you change stuff and revert that change might get fixed
other than that maybe the mod haven't been truly removed try to figure out what files did the mod install and manually cut/paste  them somewhere else (that's if the mod didn't overwrite any files)

Alt enter dosent do anything, and Ive already gone through the .ini files to make sure fullscreen is enabled. The launcher just changes the values in skyrim.ini/ skyrimprefs.ini

I'll try looking up what files the mod changed to see if Nexus mod manager actually uninstalled it or not...

I know NMM is the preferred program for Nexus but look into Mod Organizer. MO uses a virtual drive that starts whenever you start playing Skyrim and keeps your files intact.

 

Make a backup of your Skyrim.ini and prefs.ini to your desktop.

Delete the files.

Run Skyrim and let it rebuild the files.

Ive got realvision installed that needs certain settings in the ini files to be set in a certain way, but I'll try it out and see what happens.

I would check the mod's uninstall procedure and see if it does anything to core files.

After reading the readme for thew mod and finiding where the files were placed, I noticed that files were left over in skyrim/data/skse/plugins even when the mod was uninstalled.

After deleting those the game is running in glorious fullscreen @ 60 fps

It was just called "one tweak". Didnt have much of a description on the skyrim nexus. It allowed the game to run in bordereless full screen, and did little things like removing the bathesda logo on the startup...

The mod seems to be doing what is standard with STEP: Core (highly recommend if you're interested in Mod Organizer).
