Hello guys

im looking to upgrade my headphones, i am between the ATH m50x and the Vmoda M100...

The vmoda m100 with the XL earpads are 100 euro more expensive than the M50X, is the quality worth the price?

I want them as my main PC headphones for gaming and listening to music

The Vmoda is better if you're a basshead, whereas the m50x is slightly more focused on the highlights

the m50x is flat?

No far from flat, the people who are calling them flat, is people you should not listen to.

Thing is that i dont want to pay 100 euro more for something that has more bass, just that, u know what i mean? if it is overall better then fine, it's worth the 100 euro price difference...i guess

Well that is kinda hard for us to say, since we can not say if you would think they are overall better, I can say that the sound quality is better, but that would not help if you don't like their sound signature. They are more focues on bass and the build quality is higher.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

If the headphone is only going to stay on your pc desk and you're in a quiet place, open-back headphone is the way to go.

Fidelio X2 or HD600/650 is generally my easiest recommendation for open headphone for first timers with your budget.

For closed, i'd recommend fostex t50rp mk3 over the vmoda.

If you're someone who goes out a lot in noisy area, honestly i find QC35 to be more suitable. It has decent sound with pretty good bass with the best ANC there is and superb comfort for portable headphone.

I always tell people to avoid M50x like cancer. There are better options.

why whats wrong with the m50x?

There's nothing wrong with them, but our experience tells us that they are recommended far too often for use-cases they really don't belong in.

They are a great headphone if you want a closed, fun-sounding headphone that can be used at home and on-the-go for $150.  If you can spend more there are better choices like the V-Moda.  If you're looking to use these straight up at home, I'd suggest looking into open headphones like xtroria suggests.

Open headphones tend to roll-off sooner on bass, and most tend to not have really really deep sub-bass unless you get planars.  I don't think it really matters that much, lots of people think that louder bass is better when in fact what they really want is less, more quality bass.

But, if you want a lot of bass, look into the DT770/990, Fidelio X2, or the HE400i.
