Why does it have to be ATX?

I would go with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Zotac-I7-6700T-Ddr3-1600-Sataiii-Usb3-1/dp/B01GVE595O/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468573899&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=MI571+PLUS

And a good 1440p monitor.

May the force be with you - Yoda

4 core apu should be enough for word/web browsing, and the better integrated graphics should help with video decoding. the ssd is there for speed, but you could replace it with a hdd if you want size over speed. i understand that built in psus arent great, but this is a very low end build, its an antec psu (one of the better brands) and it wont be pushed very hard at all. also, a 27" aoc monitor is $20 cheaper, but their quality is questionable and its better to just pay a bit more to not deal with the issues

Certainly a computer that should perform those basic tasks for a long time to come without upgrade.

For general web browsing and activities an i3 is more than enough, and the integrated graphics being plenty for watching shows. Throwing on a cheaper custom tower cooler means it will run near silently, despite the task it is performing.

8gbs of ram, is once again more than enough for these basic tasks.

SSD for faster booting and program use, making it feel certainly like a properly quick computer.

Decent quality case, change it for anything you prefer more, if you like something different. Cases are highly subjective.

Solid PSU.

A  cheap CD/DVD because sometimes they can just be handy; especially for an older generation that hasnt moved away from physical media as much as younger people have.

IPS 27" monitor, for a beautiful display that should last quite a long while if treated right.

That motherboard is not available from pcpartpicker in AUS, and neither is that monitor. You also forgot a powersupply, the beating heart of every computer xD

top right of the site, click the drop down and select australia man, makes it 100x easier

Thank you all for your replies, one thing I forgot to add is that somewhat large storage capacity is required as my parents have a lot of photos/videos. They've also decided to not upgrade their monitor so a VGA port will need to be used, no biggie.

Updated part list - Thoughts?

no need for an aftermarket cooler, stock is enough for an i3. you also dont need an 850 evo for parents, since i dont expect them to write much data to the ssd. you can go with a cheaper one, like the trion 150. case seems too expensive for a basic build, but then again its up to you

Soooo, this? I do still need to purchase headphones and OS (which won't be that much) so this would work.

I'd highly suggest swapping the seagate for a WD or HGST, the seagate 3tb is renown for its much higher than normal failure rate under stress.

Other than that, it looks fine.

I'll start off with 2 TB of space, and if it runs out, you can always buy another one. HGST are uncommon in Australia strangely, so are WD drives. The only WD ones I saw are like WD Blacks.
