What power supply do I should I get with a 1080 & i7?

It's my first PC build and i wanted something that will last a good while so I'm going for the i7 and gtx 1080. I've heard horror stories of motherboards being fried and the like so any help you can give me with picking a power supply is much appreciated.

Thank You

500-550W should be fine. Also look at the quality of power supplies, not just the amount of power they can output.

I suggest the EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G2 or the Corsair RM550x.

You should be fine with 500-600w.

As according to anandtech 1080 with i7 draws up to 400w.

I don't know how much an overclock adds up but 600w is very safe bet.

650w EVGA G2 will fit you perfectly. Minimum recommended is 500w with the 1080 cards, this will get you plenty of headroom even though on reviews they were only drawing 350-400w at peak usage during testing at full load.

1080s seem to get a little power hungry when overclocked so realistically the two would combine and use just under 350W. I would say grab an EVGA GS/GQ/G2, 550W or higher.
