Forum Signature Question

Hey guys,

Just interested to know why several people on here have much longer signatures in spoiler drop-down boxes than others. Is it the case the you have to have done 500 posts before you can add more to your signature?

Any info on this would be great, thank you.

No - all signatures are capped at three lines of text. Some users however use spoilers which are quite large themselves.

Well I've done longer spoilers like 4 lines and have been told by a moderator to reduce it which I deem unfair.

Ive seen few that had more to it and yet nothing happened to them thought.

Huh. Strange. I mean... mine is long, but I have never been talked to about it. I asked if it was fine if it was longer once, so long as it is in the spoilers, and the answer was yes, but I did say back then that it would probably only be 4 lines. This one is obviously longer than that. 

In fact, most of the time I can't even edit this one or it gives me "3 lines of text or less" error. But sometimes it will go through. I find that strange in and of itself.

I think that spoilers should be allowed with a 6 line limit or something (not a clue how to do a spoiler), i spent about half an hour earlier changing mine trying to fit the biggest details in (i have more than 1 pc at my disposal), i ended up using links...

You type this without *'s :

[*spoiler=this is the title of the spoiler]insert what would be inside the spoiler[*/spoiler]

Which results in:

insert what would be inside the spoiler

Or you can use the button in the top left section of the text box that is green and blue, then select "Spoiler" from the drop down list and then enter the title and contents of the spoiler accordingly.

Thanks man, think it should be a how to if its not already, i think a 6 line spoiler is reasonable..

I think there should be no hard limit on lines in the spoiler. I mean, if it is seen to be something bandwidth consuming (photos/videos), unnecessary (tons of text no one will read), or anything against the CoC, it should be changed. 

Beyond that, whatever is fine imo. Obviously that is up to LTT, the mods, and the like, but that is what I think.

But what I have in my signature, all of that is related to me and interesting/informational. So I think it's acceptable.
