Blizzard to add silence penalties in World of Warcraft

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/20177160/new-silence-penalty-coming-to-world-of-warcraft-7-12-2016

Blizzard Entertainment is set to start imposing silence penalties on players deemed to be abusive or spamming.  The penalties start at 24 hours of limited social interaction and double with each additional offence.  There is no cap on the duration of this social time out.  The system is triggered by multiple reports from multiple users and requires an actual person to review the case before any punishments are dealt out.  The feature is set to roll out with the pre expansion patch 7.0.

As a player that is, or at least was, heavily economy based; I would often hit trade chat with messages looking to buy materials or sell items such as pets.  The spam portion has me a bit concerned for people who play similarly as there is no clear definition of spam at the moment.  At least the manual review part leaves me feeling a little secure in that the system is not fully automated and likely to be abused.

There's something cool here - you just can't see it.

If your not doing anything deemed abusive, like selling or buying in Trade chat, you will be fine. The penalties are not suppose to auto trigger and will require a human to actually review the reports and determine if they merit the penalty. Simply post WTB or WTS is not going to gain that.

The purpose of this policy is the weed out the abusive people. Like the people constantly spamming Anal jokes, or other things that are considered disruptive.
