what website do you use when you're building a PC? Or at least use to plan building one?

Amazon.com

I refuse to even help someone who uses pcpartpicker, its one of the worst products in the whole industry and should die in a fire along with Flash and powerline adapters.

Rant over.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

PC partpicker is usually very good when it comes to compatibility. The occasional issue I see is "CPU may not fit in this case".

I asked that question just to prompt him to see what his personal issue with the site was. I 100% agree that it's usually pretty great at finding compatibility errors.

Even though I use PC partpicker for my builds (mostly to keep track of parts and prices) but I would also check the manufacturer's websites whenever possible.

Besides it lack of knowledge and errors with xeon cpus that it has, it does do a good job seeing which retailer sells a product cheaper, and keeps track of components that you need to finish a build.

Its a sin because it promotes laziness.  You should KNOW what motherboard is compatible with what CPU and so on.

I can almost solely blame pcpartpicker for every single person that got a AM3+ motherboard with a 95w socket but also got a 125w CPU because "website x" said it worked.  People need to educate themselves about their builds.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

That is why you should be promoting a combination of a part builder and the LTT forums. Outright striking a helpful, but flawed at times, tool is just as bad as shopping on "Amazon.com" for your computer since Amazon would be more concerned with your bill rather than your compatibility of parts.

Not everyone has the time to do things like compare prices from 5-6 different retailers to find the cheapest one though.

And while it may not take into consideration about wattages amd cpus are alot harder to determine what motherboard would work because of fm2/fm2/am2/am2+/am3/am3+ , and only certain sockets are backwards compatible with each other.

I don't trust anyone who doesn't have a source and so many times on here, I see people say things like "Yea that ATX motherboard will work in that ITX case!"  People need to go to the manufacture and realize what is compatible.  Sources or bust.
