Hey guys, welcome to my HP Envy 15 notebook review! :) As always, I want to warn you that I am not really that good at writing reviews so please bear with me :P

  • 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA
  • 39.6 cm (15.6") HD BrightView LED-backlit (1366 x 768)
  • AMD Radeon HD 8750M (2 GB DDR3 dedicated)
  • HP TrueVision HD Webcam with integrated digital microphone

Potato?

 

Review of each main component:

Trackpad:

Dang, this trackpad is NICE! It is made of aluminium and allows your fingers to smoothly glide around it. One of the best I have used, much better than a cheap plastic one.

 

Display:

The display is 1366x768, 15.6" and LED-backlit. Looks really nice and I have no complaints about it.

 

Keyboard:

This keyboard is one of the best keyboards I have typed on, in terms of a laptop keyboard of course. I love typing my notes on this keyboard and the fact that it has a num-pad on the side is AWESOME! There are media keys and shortcuts that are combined with the "F" keys also... Also, the keyboard is backlit.

 

Build quality:

The laptop is made from aluminium except for the bottom and bezel around the monitor, which are plastic. I have never dropped the laptop (Thank fully) but I imagine that it will survive.

 

Things that I do not like :( :

BRANDING! BRANDING BRANDING BRANDING!!! There is WAYYY too much unnecessary branding. I understand that HP has to put Beats branding on their laptops because of their partnership. But why would they put a grill on the bottom with a embossed Beats logo that does not have a fan behind it? It just seems stupid to me....

What's the weight of the notebook?

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

I would suggest formating it and install a clean Windows 8.

That one is a different version, has an i7.

No problem, I will restart as I have been running for days without a shutdown. lol...

I got around 10fps on the beta but I get 60 on bf3 so I am guessing it is because of the shitty optimization.

For cinebench I got 29FPS on OpenCL and 1.61points on CPU

I would never recommend a Acer, but a comparable Lenovo ThinkPad is the best quality you can get. My X230 can easily beat up somebody because of it's amazing quality :P

nope. Max I've ever seen is 65C
