PC extremely hot

NunoLava1998

Today i turned on my PC and it was running quite slow. Even though disk usage was extremely low, CPU usage doesn't exceed 10%, Memory usage doesn't exceed 50%, my computer is running extremely hot. I don't hear my fan running. I don't have many programs running, and there aren't any viruses (assuming there are no viruses detected since this update). My CPU is currently running at 93-94ºC as me writing this post, and my GPU at 118ºC-119ºC. That's is extremely abnormal. The CPU temperature is like if it had no thermal paste. I only watched a youtube video and then this started happening. My CPU temperature is going up rapidly. IT'S AT 97C THIS TIME http://speccy.piriform.com/results/s5byIaRt77JOzOphdVG5RG6

What cooler do you use on your GPU and CPU? Have you recently worked on your PC? You might have accidentally knocked out a cable or the cooler has come lose. Try reinstalling the CPU cooler. Also what case do you have?

Open the sides and see if the fans even run, if they dont then check the cables like @Warning kinda suggested.

There are many possible factors-

  1. physical damage from servicing
  2. dried out CPU thermal paste
  3. damaged CPU fan
  4. damaged GPU fans
  5. old GPU with dried out thermal paste and degraded thermal pads
  6. temperature sensor error
  7. many other minor faults

I suck a typing, preparw for typos.

CPU with stock cooler, i have a case which i don-t know the name. Things went very unusually slow and the BIOS shows same results. The BIOS shows the fans running at around 1550 RPM. This is prebuilt and it has worked fine before for years.

mobo is running 49c so ambient in the case isnt that hot really. Can you install hwmonitor and see all the temps from mobo

Have you reapplied thermal compound recently? and if yes, what did you use? And like the other guys are saying. Check cables. But i highly doubt that the cooler has come loose ad it will be very hard to to by hitting it.

I had a GTX 580 at 68 idle because of bad thermal compound

It could also be a glitch. try removing the side panel and stick your hand inside. Does it feel hot?

Also try checking the temps. in BIOS. It could be a software issue.

Also try manually setting fan speeds with MSI afterbuner and speedfan

My SSD runs at 400C on HW monitor :) There are abnormalities with those temps- an Intel CPU at this temperature would shut itself down already.

unfortunately for your expectations i turned off my computer when the CPU temperature was 98ºC and my CPU freezes (shuts itself down) at 100ºC

1, 6 & 7: defenately possible

2 & 5: even no paste at all shouldnt be this dramatic

3 & 4: once again, shouldnt be this dramatic.

i left it out for a bit more time (1 hour) and it was much more cool

Really strange, both your CPU and GPU are hot. Sounds like a motherboard or power supply issue to me. Try with different board or PSU if you can. You can try changing the paste and touching the radiator. If you can hold your finger on it near the CPU with brand new paste-it's a problem with sensors or mobo. Hope you fix the issue!
