I7 vs I5 for gaming.

So again, why do do you recommend an I7 for a gaming build?

I wouldn't, unless you already have everything else you want for the system and money still left over. You could put that $100 into your graphics configuration and it would actually matter in most games. The i7 might push a couple of games slightly ahead of a same-generation i5, but you wouldn't see or feel it in the vast majority of games.

So. Lately I have seen many people suggesting getting an I7 for gaming. Now I know the difference and I don't need to be linked to the fast as possible as it says what I so far know that for gaming, and I7 offer close to non performance increase over an I5. But still I see people recommending it for gaming builds, what gives? Have there been a change in game so they now benefit from hyper threading? Do they offer better thermals? I'm just so confused to see I7 left and right for gaming builds while, atleast as far as I know if there is any performance increase its laughably minimal. So again, why do do you recommend an I7 for a gaming build?

I once explained to my girlfriend what true love is. I said, "If you were a shit, I'd put you back in" and to this day, she is still my little shit.

If you've got the money, take an i7.

Games will be focussing on more cores in the future so feature proofing yourself is a great idea if you plan on keeping this build for a couple of years.

Now, that doesn't mean the i5 is bad.
An i5 has the same performance per thread as the i7 so games won't actually run better on a i7 apart from 2 fps maybe.

Its about the buget and future proofing, and if you do work like compiling programs, rendering etc. the i7 would be better since that speeds op those processes.

If you aren't a millionair go for the i5 if its just for gaming, if you've got the money/you are a youtuber sponsored with an i7 then take the i7

Based on the way that hyper threading works... I don't see why it couldn't confer an advantage in gaming. The ability for a processor to simultaneously process two things at once is great no matter how you look at it, even if it isn't 100% of the time.

You either get the i5k or the i7k processor and overclock it. Unless you are doing video editing the i7 makes no sense. If your ego needs the i7, go for it. If you wanted a non K series i5 or i7 then you would be wasting your money either way.

That is not correct. Games like Witcher 3, Ashes, RotTR, Fallout 4, GTA V and etc gain a lot from HT. It's a 10-20fps increase

Get 8350 for those sweet 8 ''cores''. i7 is overrated. Think do you need that extra few fps that you get for i7 and is it worth the price tag. Dont really ken the prices of these things since i havent had no need for it, but isnt i7 like over 100e more expensive?

per thread* - i5 and i7 are the same if only using 1 thread. If using 1 CORE (with the HT) then the i7 is 20-40% faster

i5 is for if you only game. i7 is if you game as well as other things that can make use of the extra threads. Buuut, more games are starting to make use of the extra threads.

Nothing.

i5 if you are poor and have a lower-end GPU. i7 if you have a high-end GPU

Lel.....you do realise that your FX 8350's 4 modules have similar IPC to first gen i7, and worse multi threaded performance than second gen i7.

Not correct. 8350's MC is on par with a 3770

Yes it is. You and Prysin have been over this countless times now.

Can we all stop bitching now?

Honestly. We have the entire internet, all these resources, all these people testing products for free, all these ways of objecting measuring the efficacy of something, but noooOOOOOooooo can't be smart about it. Fuck that.

That serves to prove my point. It's basically on par with a 3770.
