Still messing with it, keeps trying to update. I'm going to use the "install on another compute" to hopefully be able to install 10 on my flash drive.

Yep, that works. Will have to back up though.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Are you sure you didn't accidentally select the upgrade option?

Nope, followed the link. If you click on install on your computer is does a install using your drive, so it updates. You have to click on install on another computer to get the option to use the removable drive

???

When you go to the link you click this:

and it downloads an exe which you then run...

Yep, and if you choose to install on your computer it does not allow you to choose the install location. Goes right in the boot drive. Which might be my best shot because now it's telling me I need a Windows 10 key to install windows 10... Skipping that step gives you the trial version, I have the full version. Getting taxing, not your fault though I want to see if there's anything to this but not willing to step down to the trial version to do so.

So you're downloading the tool on a windows 10 PC right?

It should not ask for a key if you're already on windows 10.

And there is no such thing as windows 10 trial version...

It's just windows 10, and either activated or unactivated.

It should auto-activate itself after installing, you have to click skip though

Btw you can use windows 10 unactivated for free with no restrictions other than a tiny logo at the bottom (easy to get rid of)

I'm researching it and it seems that since I have Windows I'll be OK. Still researching it though.

But there IS a trial version which is what you get if you install the OS on a drive that's never had Windows installed. That trial ends when Microsoft says it ends, and my PC is my income. So I'm sure you can understand I'm not going to rish it when I haven't experienced any issues.

I'm screwed. I use my 850 as my boot drive since it's the fastest, and I have a metric ton of shit on it. Can't backup because I have nothing big enough. So would be installing games for days. Sorry, I gave it a shot but I'd ether have to install just in the OS partition or skip it.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
