If it's overheating why not just put on a fan on the modem and leave it oustide of the case. I've seen several people do this with routers which get a little hot. To answer your question however it's entirely possible unless size is a problem, you'll have to run power and such to it though so it's probably going to look bad and clutter your case.

if you really want a cool router maybe you could cool it with mineral oil? :D

have extension cables running from it to access everything. it would essentially be a box with oil

Just open the case of the modem place the main-board into the pc case instead and build it onto a side panel in a motherboard mounting frashion.will get fairly good cooling, but there needs to be case modding to make the hex nuts (for the screws ) attach to the panel.

You should look into building a custom water cooling loop so you can overclock it.  But seriously, what Giggitygoebbels said makes the most sense.

But it isn't as fun hehe, and i move my case around too roughly for watercooling

I was also thinking about it, somemodems and routers have mounts on the bottom so you can put them on the wall.  If yours has that then you could mount it on the side panel of your case, or really anywhere else in your case.

Is the power brick at the wall plug or mid way through the power cable? If your case has those water cooling gromets you could route it through those?

Idk maybe it would depend how big the modem is. It would be hilarious though.

just put it in. :)

Haha maybe that will work.

It has been done, can't upload pictured because no camera ATM. But instead of a modem used WiFi extender with Ethernet from extender outside of the case into the RJ-45 jack.

Speeds are better than power line connected straight into modem

30mbps down (my plan)

3mbps up (my plan is not stated the up)

I am impressed
