1080p or 1440p?

For my upgrades i am going to get a monitor to be coupled with it.

I play csgo, overwatch, rainbow six siege and many others games and i was wondering if i should go for a 144hz or a 1440p monitor.

I would like the quality but the refresh rate would help in csgo.

Which one would you pick and why?

(i would be happy with either just want to weigh out the pros and cons)

I would say go 1440P. I have a http://pcpartpicker.com/product/D7hj4D/acer-monitor-umkg7aa002 and it is at 85hz. The higher resolution will be really nice as long as you got the hardware to push it.

This is what i was thinking for upgrades (im hoping by december the 1070 is at msrp to save some money)

I have a GTX 970 and it does 1440P well the 1070 should have no issue.

would the 1060 or rx480 be fine a 1440p?, id rather save some money as i dont want to spend everything on pc upgrades, what sort of fps do you get and on what settings?

yes. CS GO maxed except for MSAA about 250. 75-95 BF 4

2xMSAA, High AA

 medium effects, mesh

post process, terrain and lighting ultra.

texture filtering and quality low

Sorry to bring this up again, i have saw that the 390x performs a bit better than the 480 at 1440p, is it worth the extra £20 odd pounds (pricing against msrp of the aftermarket 480) or will the 480 get better with driver updates?
