Do the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm's need an amp?

dominicvdb

So I have been looking into buying a good pair of headphones and want to try open back. I do not have a lot of money and these go for around 130 euros where I live so I thought these were the best option for me,

though if I need to buy another amp for it it's going to be too expensive I think, so do I need an amp for these headphones? I don't listen to music loudly I want these headphones to just chill while studying. If I do need an amp for them does anyone have a good suggestion for another pair of headphones -preferrably open back- which go for around the same price?

EDIT: I realise I put this in the wrong section sorry I am new to these forums

If your onboard audio is just half-way decent, then no, you don't need an amp.

And by "half-way decent" I mean if it's just on par with the amp solutions in modern smartphones.

I've got a MSI Z97 PC-Mate I think, is that 'half-way decent'? I really don't know much about audio sorry.

Yeah, sorry for not explaining that better, I tried in an eidt, but that was done too late.

Yes, your motherboard's onboard solution will do nicely.
