FreeNAS Backup

I want to completely backup my FreeNAS box (config and data).

My box doesn't have ECC ram so I know there's a small chance that I could loose my data.

I also don't use redundancy (don't judge me) as it's just a simple media server running Plex however it would still be annoying to loose everything.

So how do I back it up?

What do you want to back up to? 

 

There are cloud solutions like blackblaze. 

 

You can backup to tapes

 

You can backup to other hdds.

I don't want to backup to the cloud.

Ideally the drive in my main PC

Probably just setup a file sync between the file share on the freenas box and your computer's hdd.

Yep, Use something like freefilesync to only copy the files that are changed onto your hdd.

Do you take snapshots and do you want to back these up?

I would take tar's of all of the important files and upload them to AWS S3 or Glacier. Glacier is very cheap and built for long term retention.
