So Im upgrading from an FX build to a Haswell I5 soon and need help planning.

Im keeping my SSD and HDD but will my Windows recognize it? Ive never done this so I just need a lot of explaining.

My brother is also taking my old FX board and cpu to upgrade from his Athlon. Will this differ from the AMD/Intel one?

CPU: I5 4590 Motherboard: ASROCK H97 Pro4 Ram: XPG 16gb v2.0 4x4 kit  GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 PSU: EVGA 550w Supernova G2 Storage: 128 gb Sandisk SSD + 525gb Mx300 SSD Cooling: Be Quiet! Shadow Rock LP Case: Zalman T2 Sound: Logitech Z506 5.1 Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma Keyboard: DBPower LED

basically, if you have an FX-6XXX or 8XXX compared to a 4th gen i5, the diference will not be much at all and simply not worth it, you'll only see significant gains going to an i7, or waiting for the new amd cpus

Main PC:| CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 @ 4.1, MOBO: Asus B350 PRIME , RAM: LPX Vengance 2400 16gb kit, GPU: 980Ti Poseidon Platinum 6gb
PSU: SilverStone Strider Gold Evolution 1200w , CASE: HAF 932  HDDs:240gb EX900 HP NVME 6TB (2x3 Seagate Barracuda)
                COOLING: ThermalTake Contac Silent 12
Laptop:MSI GL62 7RD  CPU: Core i5 7300HQ, RAM: 16GB 2400mhz, :GPU GTX 1050 2GB: HDDs: 256gb adata NVME + 1TB HDD

love all brands, will go for whats cheaper for my needs

Okay so its like other parts? I just dont want to be sitting there with both of our computers torn apart this weekend with my head up my ass.

Edit: Also, my brother really needed an upgrade because his pc was from around 2009 and wasnt too great even then. I had a spare R9 280 laying around so he gave me some money for that and my current parts so I could afford the upgrade to the I5.
