brandonb21

hi guys

i just bought an msi 1080 gaming non x version so the non overclocked version of their non reference cooler. and im wondering what would happen if i flashed a gaming x bios onto my non x card? will i get the performance of a x version or will it just brick my card?

Just overclock it. You'll get the same results, without the risk.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

The factory overclock doesn't do much. See where it boosts to, and if you need more then just overclock it.

it boost to 1870 at 75% fan speed. the card is quite so i dont mind running the fan that high. the default fan curve boost to 1813 ish

That's good. Personally I wouldn't worry about overclocking until you have an issue getting the frames you want. But if you want to overclock it for fun download MSI Afterburner, max out the power limit and voltage after enabling it in the options. And see how far it will go.
